The problem here with Lolita isn’t that children are sexualized in today’s culture and Lolita is furthering that issue, the problem is that America cannot comprehend the possibility that a woman may be past puberty, but at the same time, her entire life and all of her decisions aren’t centered around finding a mate. A girl may dress as a doll, a Victorian lady, a fairy, or yes, even as a child*. Does this inherently mean, because she’s a woman, she’s attempting to seduce men with her outfit? I think THAT’S the issue.
